How is science used in video games?

by Gamer on Nov.30, 2008, under games

Biancie asked:

By this, I do not mean it in a way like, ‘a game about science’ or such.

I mean, how is science incorporated in the making and programming of video games? This is for a project where I have to write scientific facts about things I like.

What is the best program to record video of and take screenshots of video games on the PC?

by Gamer on Nov.30, 2008, under games

Patrick, Sir Ownsalot asked:

Howdy.

I’d like to record some video (and take screenshots of) me playing vertain games on my PC. I’d like to know what you think of various programs, and if you have one that you use. Free is preferable, but any suggestion at all is welcome. I would just get Fraps, but I’m more than a bit hesitant about shelling out 37 big ones on it.

What I’m looking for is something with which I can shoot video and take screenshots without making my game lag. I’m looking for the kind of thing the guys who post their game videos on YouTube have. If Fraps is the only option, that’s what I’ll do, but I’d really like your input.

Thanks in advance.

Dave D asked:

I have a great idea for a video game but have little or no experience in programming or computers. How would I go about being a video game writer, like a screenplay writer? Is there a certian fromat that it would have to be written in for submission to an actual designer?

Aren’t video games really just a creation of the government to turn males into mindless killing machines?

who are more apt to sign up for the military?

**I hate video games**
video games turn guys into lifeless lumps of flesh, sitting in front of the TV for hours, working tirelessly to accomplish an imaginary goal.

How could school work and homework ever compete with video games? Any ideas?

by Gamer on Nov.30, 2008, under games

DBrain asked:

My son and his friends go after Halo 3 and Guitar Hero like they are mad scientists on the verge of a cure for cancer. They could stay up all night, skip meals, even turn down a trip to the mall, just to get to the next level on their video game. How can educators ever generate such enthusiasm and interest for academics? Who says academics have to be so boring? Who says we couldn’t merge the two (video games and academics)? How can we do it?
